TIME FLIES

It’s hard to believe that 9 years ago I began fund raising a far-out Indiegogo, to make a journey all the way to Antarctica to perform 24 meditations to set intentions in the pristine energy fields of Antarctica to make a better tomorrow. The driver for me in this quantum entangled mission that I dared to imagine had ET support for (hey I said it was far-out), was to quell fears of the end of the world in 2012 that the media and many in the New Age community were spreading.

Acting as a one-man counter force to fear, I convinced enough fans of my mission of reassurance – that everything was getting overblown – that was sound enough to get me there and back. But, looking back, the project was stagnating until a scientist named Dr. Patrick Flanagan heard my pitch and became a significant backer in barter. At the time, still living and working in Hollywood, I was new to the New Age, having only researched the community for a sitcom pilot I co-wrote in 2000 called EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE I LEARNED FROM SITCOMS. My partners were an established Canadian filmmaker, I was engaged to at the time, and her friend, one of the top ten line producers in Hollywood.

I did not have a clue who Dr. Flanagan was. A guy Deepak Chopra called “A Gift to Humanity.” After his backing launched the project in earnest, we met briefly in Sedona before I headed out for Argentina, the hopping off point to Antarctica. Although we were from very different worlds — me corporate real estate and mainstream Hollywood, and he from NASA, government think tanks, alternative science and a far hipper guy than me – we hit it off.

I knew so little about Dr. Flanagan, who had been off the radar for a decade or so, that I did not know his backing was a big deal. I’d only begun to learn how big when I first filmed him in Chichen Itza, at the end of the Mayan calendar. It was a heady affair and the crowd went mad when he took the stage and sang a chant.

When I returned to LA I could not get Dr. Flanagan or the crowd in Mexico’s reaction to him out of my head. So when I got back to LA I picked up the phone and pitched him the idea for a 50 video web series I called the THE FLANAGAN EXPERIMENTS. He agreed instantly over the phone and in two weeks I was on the road back to Sedona again.

Dr. Flanagan was a natural on camera, charismatic as he was informative and, best of all, he believed in the series enough to bankroll view promotion. We bought about 500K views to prime the series and I was as shocked as Patrick was when over 25 million people eventually watched the series. We were a YouTube hit. Skeptical at first, I began trying some of Patrick’s health boosting and brain boosting supplements that he was producing through his successful company PhiSciences. Stunned how much better I looked and felt using his cools tools, I eventually began selling some of the products to support my film work.

Selling to the tune of millions of dollars. His amazing work eventually drew other geniuses of alternate healing to me whose products I added to Pat’s and in 2015, when the love of my life Elizabeth England joined me in Sedona, where I stayed after falling in love with the toddling spirit town during filming of Patrick, she and I formed CooltestTechEver.com in 2018 as a spinoff of my CoolestMeditationEver.com film project that got me all the way south and back. Here’s the far-out 2012 film that Patrick and his love Stephanie made possible.

Sadly, Patrick died in 2019 in Ecuador of natural causes that the family has never shared with me. Since the gentle genius passed before Covid struck I have no idea where he would have stood on the whole issue. Even though I know Pat was anti-vax and Trump leaning, since the MRNA Moderna and Pfizer vaccines work in a whole new way they might have gotten his support. We’ll never truly know.

All I know as curators of health and wellness tools when we are not making movies, my wife and I firmly believe after our own research that masking, social distancing and vaccination are safer than the alternative. But if you made up your own mind not to be vaccinated, we respect your choice in a free society, even though we strongly disagree and are vocal about it. And we hope that the Delta variant crisis that’s sweeping across America right now – affecting 99% un-vaccinated people with crippling sickness and greater death tolls, including higher numbers kids than earlier versions of Covid – never touches you or those you love.

SOAP & TOOTHBRUSHES – A Protest Film

Soap & ToothbrushesOver the course of my 23 years as a filmmaker I’ve specialized in political and protest content. Here are six of my short films, ranging from the comedic to the tragic, you can watch free on YOUTUBE.

The first one on the playlist and my fans’ all-time fav is ZACK’S MACHINE. It’s the tragedy of 9/11 told through the eyes of a puppy. It stars the amazing voice talents 5 time Golden Globe and 4 time Emmy winner Ed Asner as the lost WTC worker Zack’s father.

Ed’s health has not been great of late, so no promises, but fingers crossed I can get him to play the part of the cranky former Border Patrol agent, and antagonist for the film, Karl. If not Hollywood is filled with actors of great stature who will be drawn to all the roles in this important film. Standby for amazing announcements on what I believe will be an Oscar worthy short. At least that’s my goal. Not out of ego but because an Oscar will bring great exposure to the plight of the migrant kids.

Add to these power-packed shorts three feature length political documentaries from the POV of America’s kids, one of which that aired on PBS as the lead in to the 2000 presidential debates and the two other racking up 11 million views on the web and it’s easy to see I thrive making savvy political content to entertain and inform the masses.

For the past year, on and off, I’ve been writing a dark story about the plight of the immigrant kids being separated from their parents. A recent New York Times expose (they and the post seem to be the only real journalists left doing deep investigative work) has show mistreatment of kids has not not stopped but gotten worse. And now that the screenplay is finished I need your help to getting my seventh and most important political protest short film made and into the collective consciousness.

SOAP & TOOTHBRUSHES is a modern-day Western that tells the story of a lone social worker bucking the system to help immigrant kids at the Texas border.

I promise to make a deeply compelling film to inspire people to protest and take action to end the neglect and abuse of innocent children at the border.

THOUGHTS ON THE LIFESPANS OF MAYFLIES, DOGS, HUMANS AND REDWOODS

These thoughts on life’s brevity and its fragile nature yet beauty were written a few hours before the tragedy in Vegas. Already they feel like words from another era, another me.  Nonetheless I offer this blog with prayers for the lost and wounded at the concert last night as we must accept in our crazy times that we must live each day with as much love and light as possible, no matter what fate has in store for us.

OCTOBER 1, 2017

Our neighbor Paul, a gregarious man with a beard Santa would envy, dropped by today while I was weeding the backyard, that grew wild while I traveled two months out three this summer showing our new Antarctica meditations film across the southwest with my love and partner in all things Elizabeth. Well, it was more like Paul was dragged here by his big dog that outweighs the thin as rail scrappy 70-something.

The former trail guide Paul’s adorable German Shepard, Julie, who I learned is eight years old, gave Elizabeth and me both kisses and presented  herself for hugs. Paul gave welcome advice for packing for our upcoming hike into Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon this week. He suggested 25 pounds max weight for us each. His assurance I could make the hike calmed Elizabeth who has been worried sick about my being in good enough shape to make it to the blue green waters.

As I watched my teenage, by human years, Lincoln and the frisky 56-year-old, by human years, Julie work on lifting Lincoln’s play skills, I thought about my 65th birthday last week. How weird a thing age is.  Turning 65 means now magically means I am on the same great Medicare coverage Bernie Sanders is tilting at windmills for us all.

It makes no sense to me as I pondered, while Julie snuck into the house to steal Lincoln’s bones, that my arbitrary birthdate, which some bureaucrat decided made me insurable with Medicare, while Elizabeth is stuck on Obamacare. BTW, I have to thank Elizabeth, an expert in Medicare, for guiding me to the best coverage in the complex decision making process that would puzzle most lawyers for its complexity of choice.

I dislike Trump for his huge ego and mean heart, have since the 80s. My spirit guide Ohom has said he’ll have an awakening to higher consciousness while in office.  But I grow weary of the wait after three hurricanes have had no impact on his stubborn ego.

But the Trumpster is right for once, Obamacare is not a good thing for enough people. Certainly not for me. I got un-Affordable health care quote of $400 a month with a $5000 deductible only 50% coverage and no pharma plan. Pass!  Now under Medicare I am covered 100% for about $300 a month for all drugs and medical with a $180 dedcutible. That’s more like it!

Unfortunately, Trump has no real plan to replace Obamacare with something better once he repeals it. He simply hates Obama and is out to ruin anything the black man did out of spite and simmering racism.

Enter Bernie to the rescue.

I love Bernie’s plan of Medicare for everyone, much as it’s not going to have the votes. But there’s hope it will pass after a sweep of the Tea Party candidates ruining the Republican party beside ineffective Dems in the 2018 elections. We need to get to the center again as a nation.

I shook off the odd feeling of siding with Trump and Bernie at the same time that was enough to make me feel like my head might explode. So I turned me thoughts to our dogs living 7 times faster a life than we.  Putting my consciousness into the dogs POV, as they sniffed the yard hunting for lizards, I could see we humans seem to move through time in slow motion in comparison to them. It was groovy to visualize they do not suffer any feeling of a shorter life anymore than we feel cheated that Redwoods live thousands of years longer than we do.

Then I thought of Mayflies who live only a few hours once they emerge from the water.  I checked in and yes, same for them.  A lifetime is measured in a few hours feels as long as our own. By comparison to a mayfly, I thought, smiling up to take in the deep blue Sedona sky, I am redwood tree in lifespan.

One day I will outlive little Lincoln as I have many pets in my life. But it’s nice to realize our little doggie does not feel his life is short. Indeed, his life is like Einstein’s theory of relativity in doggie form.

Then I thought how good it is to be so vibrant and healthy at 65, fit enough to take on the Grand Canyon at an age when my grandmother was in the nursing home. After all, when I saw the Dreamshield in 2010 I was told I will live to well over 100, as some have in my family, to continue to help usher in the new age .

And now that longer life I am to have is blessed with the best mate of my life and should I be injured I now have the insurance Bernie dreams of for us all. Fingers crossed he pulls it off a miracle. It will be like he won the elections after all as he should have in the first place.
